Incident 1

Drivers involved: Mali, McSendit & Louis

Decision: x1 +10 second time penalty, added to Mali’s race time

Reason: Mali goes for an overtake into the final chicane. However, he comes from too far back and there isn’t sufficient space to make the move cleanly. He carries too much speed into the corner, hitting the side of the Williams car and causing Louis to spin. Mali then failed to return the position and therefore, a 10 second time penalty will be added to his race time.

Incident 2

Driver’s involved: Matt_ur_Daddy & Wommeh

Decision: x1 +5 second time penalty, added to Wommeh’s race time

Reason: Wommeh blocks Matt_ur_Daddy whilst on his flying lap in qualifying, causing him to have to abandon the attempt. We understand that this wasn’t deliberate, but it badly affected the Willaims driver’s session and we have to be consistent with similar incidents this season. Therefore, a 5 second time penalty will be added to Wommeh’ race time.

Incident 3

Drivers involved: Brady

Decision: -3 seconds, removed from Brady’s race time

Reason: Brady misjudges his braking into the final chicane, causing him to cut across and re-join on the start finish straight. The game then handed him a second time penalty. However, as he re-joined the circuit safely and lost time versus the cars around him, the penalty may be removed from his race time.

Incident 4

Drivers involved: Brady & Sean

Decision: x1 +5 second time penalty, added to Brady’s race time

Reason: On lap 5 of the race, Brady makes contact with Sean’s car whilst attempting to overtake on the inside of turn 9. On the exit of turn 8, Brady gets some oversteer which places his car on a collision course with Sean, but he continues to try and gain the position. The contact forces Sean into a half spin and he’s lucky that more contact later in the corner allows him to continue. Brady failed to return the position and so a 5 second time penalty will be added to his race time.

Incident 5

Drivers involved: Brady & Sean

Decision: No further action

Reason: The stewards have reviewed the contact between Brady and Sean into the final chicane, when Brady’s TV gave a power saving message, blocking his view and causing him to brake more than usual. Sean then runs into the back of Brady’s car, caught out by the slower than usual speed of the car ahead. Due to the unfortunate circumstances here, giving Brady little option as his view was obscured and Sean little chance to get out of the way, no further action will be taken. We do, however, encourage Brady to ensure his TV is set up so that this cannot happen again in future.

Incident 6

Drivers involved: VSR_Francis

Decision: No further action

Reason: Francis gets some oversteer at the top of Eau Rouge, causing the car to run wide across the run off area on the right at the beginning of the Kemmel straight. Francis kept the throttle fully open and continued, leading to the game handing out a 3 second time penalty. The stewards are satisfied that this was handed out correctly by the game as the no further action will be taken.

Incident 7

Drivers involved: VSR_Francis & Blackmamba

Decision: x1 +5 second time penalty, added to Mamba’s race time

Reason: Mamba fails to leave enough space during overtake attempts in turns 7 and 10. In turn 10 in particular, he moves to the left in the braking zone, hitting the Sauber and preventing Francis from being able to turn in to the corner. Overtakes must be completed cleanly and without contact, Mamba failed to return the position and so a 5 second time penalty will be added to his race time.

Incident 8

Drivers involved: McSendit & Louis

Decision: x1 +5 second time penalty, added to Louis’ race time

Reason: McSendit gets a good run on louis and is able to carry more speed through Pouhon. He goes for the gap on the inside cleanly and then leads as they head towards turn 13. McSendit leaves sufficient space on the inside but Louis carries too much speed into the corner, hitting the front right of the Force India, forcing it wide and allowing Louis to re-gain the lead. He then failed to return the position and so a 5 second time penalty will be added to his race time.

Incident 9

Driver’s involved: McSendit & louis

Decision: No further action

Reason: Louis is struggling for grip compared to McSendit at this point in the race and isn’t able to carry as much speed through Pouhon, as we can see on previous laps also. The stewards have reviewed footage and feel that Louis was driving within the grip that he had available and did not slow down deliberately or brake check the car behind. Therefore, no further action will be taken.

All decisions are final
